KASARAGOD: The District Development Committee (DDC) has urged the Government to sanction more funds to solve water scarcity in the district. The drought situation in the district has worsened this summer. Water in tanker lorries is being supplied in nine panchayats in the district. The Badiyadukka panchayat does not have a high school or a higher secondary school. The Perdala Government Upper Primary School should be upgraded so as to facilitate higher education for children in the panchayat, said C.T. Ahmedali, MLA, Kasaragod. Mr. Ahmedali urged the district administration to ensure that the posters and hoarding at public places are removed as they obstruct traffic. The issue should be sorted out in consultation with political parties and other organisations, Mr. Ahmedali added. The Thrikkaripur MLA, K.P. Satheesh Chandran, said that temporary land documents should be issued to those living on excess land. The Uduma MLA, K.V. Kunhiraman, highlighted the need to identify land in Ambalathara to construct a building for the police station. The District Collector, Minhaj Alam, presided over the meeting. The Additional District Magistrate, K. Gopalakrishna Bhat, and the District Planning Officer, V. Madhusoodhanan Nair, attended the meeting.
