Steps to create awareness among youth to join the defence forces initiated.

ANANTAPUR: For the first time, the unemployed youth in the district will get an opportunity in their backyard to join the army and serve the country, when the Chennai Zone of army recruitment establishment will conduct a recruitment rally here in the first week of July.

The district administration has already initiated steps create an awareness among the youth and inspire them to join the army by participating in the recruitment rally on a large-scale.

Free coaching

Youth Welfare, Velugu, Education, Sainik Welfare and NCC officials have been pooled up for making the rally a success.

In a meeting with the departments concerned the district Collector, Y.V. Anuradha, on Saturday stated that lack of proper training on physical fitness and written examination were denying chances to the youth of the district, though they were interested in joining the army.

The district administration was planning a one-month free residential coaching (pre-army recruitment rally) for the eligible youth, she said. She directed the officials to find out the number of places where such coaching was required to be held.

About 10 talented physical education teachers would be selected for the training on army recruitment methods and in turn they would train the candidates for recruitment rally.

The candidates with minimum physical and academic qualification would be registered for the training camps by conducting an awareness campaign in all mandals in the first half of May.

Last year, 47 candidates from the district had joined the Border Security Force and no vacancy should be left in the quota allotted to the district this year too, the Collector said.
