HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee leaders -- T. Niranjan and M. Ranga Reddy -- have lashed out at the TRS leadership for its "irresponsible" remarks on peace talks with naxalites and regarding the issue of statehood for Telangana. Despite being coalition partners at the Centre and in the State, K. Chandrasekhar Rao and A. Narendra of the TRS, were talking `irrelevantly,' they said at a press conference here on Saturday. The twin cities with adjoining Ranga Reddy District municipalities would become a Union Territory in the event of separation.
`Narendra warned'
The PCC leaders said Mr. Narendra, had in the past warned the Government against diverting Manjeera water to Hyderabad and hence had no business to own up Hyderabad now as he was trying to do. Likewise, Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao, who had caused considerable damage to the real estate business in the twin cities, with his remarks, also had no stake here.
Limited strength
Both leaders should realise that their strength in the UPA was only five, whereas the ruling party at the Centre had the support of 62 Left party members and 37 Samajwadi Party members.
Consensus
Any decision on Telangana would evolve out of consensus and even then Hyderabad would not be its capital, they said. It would be better if the two TRS leaders realised that Hyderabad would never become part of Telangana.
