Teachers resent opposition to study of history

KURNOOL: A meeting of history teachers here on Saturday expressed anguish over the opposition to study and teaching of the subject from some quarters. The Head of the Department of History at Srikrishnadevaraya University, Krishna Naik, who addressed the gathering, said Napoleon, the French warrior, who became a great man after reading the biographies of historical heroes, had banned history to have control over historical developments.

Prof. Naik said globalisation would pose a serious threat to the existence of history as a subject.
