MANGALORE: The reorganisation of the zilla panchayat constituencies has added four more seats to the 31-member Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat. According to sources in the zilla panchayat, changes have been made in the number of constituencies in Mangalore taluk and Belthangady taluk. The following are the list of the zilla panchayat constituencies: Kinnigoli, Puthige, Shirthadi, Kateel, Bajpe, Yedapadavu, Gurupara, Neerumarga, Konaje and Kotekaru in Mangalore taluk; Sangabettu, Sarapady, Thumbe, Pudu, Golthamajalu, Maani, Kolnadu, Vittla and Kurnadu in Bantwal taluk; Naravi, Aladangadi, Laila, Ujire, Kaniyoor and Dharmasthala in Belthangady taluk; Uppinangady, Nelyadi, Kadaba, Belanduru, Panaje and Nettanige in Puttur taluk; and Bellare, Guthigaru, Jalsuru and Aranthodu in Sullia taluk. The President of the zilla panchayat, Somanath, told The Hindu that the number of zilla panchayat constituencies was increased because many areas did not have representation. Bharat Mundodi, who represents Guthigaru in Sullia, said there should have been more constituencies, particularly in hilly areas.
