CHENNAI: The Central Crime Branch police seized 49 fake international credit cards and arrested six persons, including a Swiss-based Sri Lankan Tamil on Saturday. Following a tip off, the police arrested the six persons from a shopping mall on Anna Salai after they purchased dress materials and a few cellular phones with one of the cards. Police said interrogation revealed that the six came to the city to sell the credit cards for Rs. 20,000 each. One bought materials worth Rs. 5 lakhs using a card. The arrested were identified as George Kingston (32), Sri Lankan Tamil from Switzerland; three Sri Lankan repatriates, Ruban (26) from Tiruchi, Madhan (34) and Tamizh (27) from Wallajahpet; Salim (30) from Triplicane and Aaron (35) from Seven Wells. Cases under Sections 120 B (criminal conspiracy to commit an offence), 420 (cheating), 467 (forgery of a valuable security), 471 (using as genuine a forged document) and 474 (having possession of a document knowing it to be forged) were registered. The arrested were remanded to judicial custody.
