Lack of service rules tells on results: teachers

HYDERABAD:
The AP Progressive Teachers' Union said here on Saturday that there was a fall in the pass percentage of SSC results because of lack of service rules for teachers.
B. Mohan Reddy, president, P. Sudhakar Reddy, general secretary, in statement urged the Government to issue an ordinance before reopening schools to give effect to inter-district transfers, promotions and 2003 DSC appointments.
Students' bid to end life
Five SSC students, including a girl, attempted suicide in different localities in the city on Saturday.
Rajita (15), of Bapunagar in Bowenpally, slipped into depression when she learnt that her marks percentage was less than what she had expected. She reportedly secured 450 marks as against her expectation of 500. She fell unconscious after consuming some poison.
Syed Rashid of Chilakalaguda, Rajani of Gandhinagar, Swati of Warasiguda and Shalini of Kalasiguda also attempted suicide by consuming poison after learning about their poor performance. All were shifted to Gandhi Hospital.
