Booty worth Rs. 13.37 lakhs recovered

HYDERABAD: Five members of a gang, who had allegedly committed 41 property offences, including a murder for gain, in the past one year, were arrested by the Vikarabad police in Ranga Reddy district on Saturday.

Stolen property worth Rs. 13.37 lakhs was recovered from them, the Ranga Reddy SP, E. Damodar, said in a press release. The gang, said to be led by Md. Saleem, 29, was caught during routine vehicle checking at Vikarabad town.

Based on their confession, stolen jewellery weighing 52.6 tolas, 11 auto-rickshaws, 10 two-wheelers and three mobiles were recovered.

Saleem of Rajendranagar was earlier arrested in 2003. On release, he allegedly joined hands with Abdul Gaffar, Md. Khader, Syed Jaffar and Md. Zameeruddin and committed offences from August, 2004.

All of them were arrested. They allegedly raided a house in Gangaram of Vikarabad on August 12, 2004, and killed an inmate S. Bharatamma when she tried to rescue her husband.
