HYDERABAD: The city unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party has demanded that the Government release Rs. 10 crores immediately to tackle drinking water crisis in the twin cities. They also sought three power borewells in each municipal division and supply of water through tankers wherever necessary. The Himayatnagar MLA, G. Kishan Reddy, and city president, Venkataramani, told presspersons here on Saturday that complaints on inadequate water supply were pre-dominant throughout their ongoing `padayatra' programme in municipal divisions.
`False claims'
"Water Board claims that 90 millions gallons are being supplied daily. But in reality, only 65 mgd is being supplied. Officials are making false claims as they themselves are not sure of the amount being supplied," they charged. "Water is being supplied only for about half an hour and there are many complaints of polluted water," they said. The BJP leaders charged the Water Board of laying bad quality pipelines for Krishna project and pointed out to the several leakages and breakdown of supply in some areas due to it. Criticising the Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad for the condition of the roads, they alleged that for the last one year save for `VIP roads' other thoroughfares were ignored. The BJP leaders also flayed the `Praja Patham' stating that it was a `big flop' as none of the problems brought before the elected representatives were being solved.
