NEDUMBASSERY: The fact that the papal election was one of the smoothest in the history of the Church was a mark of unity among Cardinals and also of the new Pope's outstanding personality, the head of the Syro-Malabar Church, Cardinal Varkey Vithayathil, has said. Speaking to reporters at the Nedumbassery airport on Saturday, on his way back after participating in the papal election, he said that all the rules for the election had been strictly followed. The Congregation of Cardinals to elect the Pope was attended by 115 cardinals from 52 countries, he said.
