Staff Reporter

KOCHI: A man was found strangled to death at his residence in Vazhakala here on Saturday. The police identified him as K.K. Mohammed Ali, 48, of Shabna Manzil, Kadayaparambil.

The victim's wife, Ramla, and their children, Shabna, Jafna and Shebin, had gone to a relative's house in Muvattupuzha for a family function a couple of days ago.

Mohammed Ali was found dead by his brother's grandchild this morning. He was found strangled to death with a shawl taken from his house itself.

A knife was recovered from the room, but there were no injuries on the body, the police said. And although it was a thickly populated area, no one had heard any noise from the house on Friday night, they said.

No attempt for burglary was recorded in the preliminary investigation. Only a mobile phone and wristwatch were reported missing. Tracker dogs were pressed into service. Forensic experts collected evidence from the site. The body has been sent to Alappuzha Medical College for post-mortem.

The Kalamassery police have registered a case and investigations have begun.

The deceased, along with Mr. Ismail, used to run a lottery agency and was the executive producer of the Malayalam film, Bharthavudyogam. He was involved in the production of a new film, Chandrakalamaanathu.
