Complaints of diarrhoea

More than 45 villagers of Ujjanur near Chinna Thadagam in Thudialur police limits were treated for diarrhoea on Sunday. According to the police, the villagers had taken meat after taking part in a goat sacrifice ceremony at a temple in Ujjanur, after which they developed symptoms of nausea and diarrhoea.

All of them were given medical aid in local hospitals, Thaliyur public health centre, a few private hospitals and clinics. All of them were said to be out of danger. The Public Health Department rushed medical teams to the area.

Regulatory orders

The City Police Commissioner, has clamped regulatory orders under section 41 of the Madras City Police Act in all the twelve police station limits in Coimbatore City with effect from Sunday midnight till May 15 midnight. The regulatory orders aimed at prohibiting any public assemblies, dharnas, demonstrations, public meetings and processions without prior permission. Persons belonging to different political, social, religious and economic ideologies are likely to cause breach of public peace and tranquillity, hence the regulatory orders, a city police press release said.
