Draft electoral rolls to be released on May 10

  • List and applications will be available in post offices
  • Special camps on May 14, 15, 21 and 22 to add names
  • Last date for applying fixed as May 30
  • Forms can be downloaded from ECI, SEC websites

    THANJAVUR: Draft electoral rolls will be displayed on May 10 at the office of the Municipal Commissioner, Revenue Divisional offices, taluk offices, panchayat offices and polling booths in the district.

    According to a press release issued here by the Collector, M.Veera Shanmugha Moni, if the names of voters were not found in these lists, electorates should submit Form VI in the respective offices.

    For correction and addition of names, voters can apply from May 10 to 30. They can also add names on special camp days like May 14, 15, 21 and 22.

    Those who want to add or transfer their names from the list from an Assembly segment to another owing to migration should apply through Form VI. For deletion of names of persons found wrongly in the draft electoral rolls Form VII should be used. If voters want to make any change or correction in the draft electoral rolls, they can apply using Form VIII. Those who migrated from one area to another within in the same Assembly segment can apply through Form VIII A to get their names transferred to the new area.

    The Election Commission has also decided to display the draft electoral rolls in post offices. Forms VI, Form VII, Form VIII and Form VIII A can be taken from post offices and submitted there itself. Voters can download these forms from the Election Commission of India (ECI) website www.eci.gov.in and the State Election Commission (SEC) website www.election.tn.nic.in and the filled-in forms can be sent on line to the Collector's office.

    Help desks created

    Help desks have also been created at Revenue Divisional offices, taluk offices to help voters in updating the electoral rolls, the Collector said.
