KATHMANDU: Nepal on Monday released a top political leader from house arrest. The Government freed Madhav Kumar Nepal, general Secretary of the main Communist Party of Nepal CPN UML, who had been under house arrest since the Royal proclamation of February 1. In a press conference after his release, Nepal urged all the political parties for a joint movement for the restoration of people's rights and democracy in the country. The Government partially resumed mobile phone services from Monday. The registered post paid mobile services were resumed in the Kathmandu valley only. The Government had also called all the post-paid users to re-register the mobile last month and currently the services will be available to them only. All the colleges and most schools remained closed in response to a strike call by seven student outfits to protest the army shootout in a college in western Nepal injuring four student leaders. PTI
