MRTP Commission Chairperson to be appointed soon

NEW DELHI:
The Centre informed the Supreme Court on Monday that the new Chairperson of the Monopolies and Restrictive Trade Practices Commission (MRTPC) would be appointed in three weeks.
Additional Solicitor General Amarendra Saran gave this information before a three-judge bench comprising Chief Justice R.C. Lahoti, Justice A.R. Lakshmanan and Justice G. P. Mathur during the course of hearing of a petition filed by Janaradan Prasad Jaiswal. The petitioner submitted that many matters relating to restrictive practices were pending adjudication before the MRTPC.
