Man arrested,

charas seized

Officials of South Zone Task Force team apprehended A. Shankaraiah of Warangal district and seized 1400 kg `charas' from him. He was nabbed at Engine Bowli here. He confessed to selling the drug to customers in city. He was earlier arrested in 1992 when he was transporting `ganja' from Warangal to Sholapur of Maharashtra.

Two held with

tampered passports

The Immigration authorities at the Begumpet airport caught two persons who arrived by a Qatar Airways flight from Dubai on tampered passports on Monday.

The police said B. Durgaiah and K. Narsaiah, both natives of Nizamabad had gone to Dubai, a year ago. Their employers refused to return their passports. They approached an agent who gave them passports of N. Srinivas of Karimnagar and K. Kistaiah, on which they returned.

Girl molested

A nine-year-old girl was reportedly molested by her neighbour, Ramesh under the Moghulpura police limits on Sunday. The girl's parents were away when Ramesh reportedly lured the girl to his house and committed the offence.

The victim is a resident of Haribowli. The Moghulpura police are on the lookout for Ramesh.

Chain snatched

Miscreants snatched a two tola gold chain from L. Sangeetha in a crowded RTC bus under the Bahadurpura police limits on Sunday. She was returning home along with her family from the Nehru Zoological Park when the incident occurred. Her husband, Gopal lodged a complaint.

Dies in accident

A labourer, A. Sailamma (19) of Suraksha Colony in Chandanagar died on the spot when a lorry knocked her down while she and two others were fetching water from a borewell on Sunday.
