A colossus

Congratulations to Dr. Manglampalli Balamuralikrishna for being conferred the prestigious Chevalier des Arts et Lettres award by the French Government for his enormous contribution to Carnatic music in particular and Indian music at large. It is widely acknowledged that he is a colossus in his chosen field. Legends such as Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer, Pandit Jasraj, and Bhimsen Joshi have lauded his musical genius. Dr. Balamuralikrishna changed the notion that classical music is for the elite and has drawn big crowds wherever he has performed.

Kumaraswamy Nadiminti,
