BANGALORE: Karnataka Hoody Club, showed tremendous grit. And backed by a vociferous crowd of about 5000, the local side quelled the challenge from Indian Bank, Chennai to win 22-25, 25-23, 22-25, 25-23, 16-14 in a group D match of the inaugural Rajiv Gandhi Memorial All India Invitation floodlit volleyball tournament at the Hood SC ground here this evening. With rains threatening to come down heavily the organisers and the home side were hard pressed but nevertheless squeaked through to a creditable win. The same Karnataka side had edged out Indian Bank, also in five sets in the recently-concluded All India tourney in Mangalore. Indian probable M.N. In the women's match, KSEB despite many of its main players missing in the line-up outplayed GKM Foundation (Chennai) 25-13, 25-20, 25-23, for its first win. GKM has finished its engagements and along with Dr. Sivanthi Club Chennai will return home. Late last night ICF Chennai the champion at Mangalore, routed Sports Developement Authority of TamilNadu (SDAT) 25-21, 25-21, 25-21.
