COIMBATORE: Super Spinning Mills is targeting a turnover of Rs. 68 crores from its garment division during 2005-06 against Rs. 10 crores expected during 2004-05. It has four garment production units now, including one at the Netaji Apparel Park, Tirupur. Production from these was expected to go up to 20,000 pieces a day from the current 7,000 pieces by the end of this fiscal. It would be adding 500 more sewing machinery during the year to the existing 500. The Managing Director, Sumanth Ramamurthi, and the Executive Director, K. R. Seethapathy, said the domestic and export markets were `positive' now and the company was looking at setting up a new spinning unit of 25,000-30,000 spindles this year at an investment of around Rs. 50 crores. It would also acquire a spinning unit (11,000 spindles) in Udumalpet. Its current capacity was 1.4 lakh spindles. They said that the company wanted to increase its spindleage as there were not many job-working units available to suit its requirements. With a focus on having an integrated system the company planned to set up, during this fiscal, a weaving unit initially with 48 looms and a processing unit with facilities for yarn and fabric dyeing. It had already commissioned its ginning unit and the total investments planned for 2005-06 into these capacities was Rs. 52 crores.
