PONDICHERRY: The Janata Dal (secular) has threatened to stage a road roko at Marapalam on Pondicherry-Cuddalore road to highlight the woes of Mudaliarpet residents. The president of the State unit, E. Ganesan, on Tuesday said municipal sanitary workers were dumping all solid waste collected from different parts of the area near Marapalam, which is posing a health hazard. Washermen using the `dhobi yard` near Marapalam and also the residents were prone to health problems. He said the open site available near the AFT Mill was traditionally used for disposal of garbage. Now the Marapalam pocket had been used as the dumping ground. He said there was a delay in distributing `lungis' and sarees to the poor at Mudaliarpet.
