PATHANAMTHITTA: K.U. Abraham Ramban, former general secretary of the Mar Thoma Sunday School Samajam, will be consecrated as a bishop of the Malankara Mar Thoma Church on May 14. The Church secretary, Cherian Thomas, said the consecration ceremony would be held at the Church headquarters in Thiruvalla. Fr. Abraham was elected bishop at a special mandalam of the Mar Thoma Church held on January 11. He was given the Ramban title at a ceremony held at Jerusalem Mar Thoma Church in Kottayam on February 11. The Mar Thoma Metropolitan, Philipose Mar Chrysostom, will be the chief celebrant of the ordination ceremony to be held on May 14. All the nine bishops of the Mar Thoma Church will attend the ceremony. A public meeting will also be held. The Chief Minister, Oommen Chandy, will inaugurate the meeting. The Mar Thoma Church will now have 10 bishops at its service.
