THRISSUR: The Health Minister, K.K. Ramachandran, has said the Government Medical College Hospital will be shifted to a new building at Mulankunnathukavu within a month. Mr. Ramachandran told reporters after visiting Mulankunnathukavu on May 3 that the Paediatric Department would be shifted in the first phase. The other departments, including gynaecology and surgery, will be shifted to the new premises later. Of the 1,200 beds envisaged in the hospital, 550 will be functional in the first phase. The hospital will have a staff strength of 518.
