NEW DELHI: Stressing the need to make students aware of their social responsibilities, the Lieutenant-Governor of Delhi, B.L. Joshi, said on Tuesday that education in itself gets reduced to a mere academic exercise unless it lead to a total personality development in an individual. Mr Joshi, who unveiled a statue of the founder- principal of St. Thomas' School, Helen Jerwood, on the occasion of the platinum jubilee of the school, said education should not only improve a person's knowledge base but also turn him or her into a person possessed with a strong moral character.At the function, which was also attended by the Bishop of Delhi and chairman of the school, Karam Masih, and the principal, Cynthia Manoharan, the Lieutenant-Governor also released an audio compact disc and a cassette of the platinum jubilee songs of the school. He also witnessed a kathak recital presented by school alumnus and noted danseuse, Uma Sharma.
