HYDERABAD: The pass percentage of BC hostel students in the SSC public examination is 77.67 as against the State's figure of 72.41. Of the total 22,214 students, who appeared for the examination, 17,254 passed. Of them 8,760 secured first division, 5,377 second division and 3,117 third division, according to the Minister for Backward Classes, V. Lakshmikantha Rao. He told reporters here on Tuesday that West Godavari district secured the highest pass percentage of 94.07 as against the district pass percentage of 88.88. East Godavari secured second highest percentage of passes with 92.90 as against the district's pass percentage of 77.84. He said that Chittoor secured lowest pass percentage of 61.25 as against the district pass percentage of 49 per ce He said the pass percentage of BC residential school students was 99.07. Congratulating the students for their good performance, he said that as many as 17 of the 27 Andhra Pradesh residential schools for BC students secured 100 per cent pass with 100 per cent first classes. Replying to a question, he said that Rs. 84 crores was sanctioned this year for post-matric scholarships. Scholarships were being provided for those studying in Government institutions and universities. He also said that Rs.4.8 crores was given by the BC Corporation as education loans.
