Bridge to be closed for repairs

RAJAHMUNDRY:
The rail-cum-road bridge across the Godavari will be closed from May 5, as it requires urgent repair works.
The bridge, which connects East and West Godavari districts, will be closed for three months and officials have announced diversion of traffic. The Irrigation Department called for tenders to take up repairs in the first week of April and it could not materialise, as none was eligible under stipulated terms .
AG Enterprises of Hyderabad will take up repairs of 27 main pillars and seven small pillars on the bridge and the traffic will be diverted through Dowaleiswaram bridge.
