Govt. to expedite irrigation projects in district

CAMARAJANAGAR: The Minister for Water Resources and Transport, Mallikarjuna Kharge has said the Government has decided to expedite irrigation projects in the State.

He was speaking after inaugurating the pick-up Nala Gate constructed at a cost of Rs. 37.50 lakhs across the river Suvarnavathy near Hebbasur village in the taluk on Monday.

He said that Rs. 2.75 crores has been sanctioned to construct a permanent pick-up gates on eight channels. He also instructed the engineers to install the remaining seven pick-up gates in the next three months.

Mr. Kharge said around Rs. 250 crores will be spent on various irrigation projects in the district and the funds for the same will be sanctioned as and when required.
