MYSORE: Twenty persons were injured when two buses collided near the Bishop's house on the Bangalore-Nilgiri Road on Tuesday. The accident occurred when a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus coming from Chintamani collided with a Veghadoot bus heading towards Bangalore.
Cause
Though the cause of the accident is yet to be established, the police suspect that the collision was a result of reckless driving by the drivers who were unable to control the vehicles while negotiating a turn at the Five Lights Circle. The front portions of both buses were reduced to a mangled mass of metal from the impact of the accident. Most passengers were thrown out of their seats due to the collision. However, the injuries sustained by most passengers were minor. They were treated as out patients at K.R. Hospital and later discharged. Traffic on the Bangalore-Nilgiri Road was affected for nearly an hour till the authorities roped in heavy cranes to clear the wreckage. The Lashkar Traffic Police has registered a case.
