HASSAN: Four persons were killed and seven injured in a collision involving a goods autorickshaw and a maxi-cab near Udayapura on National Highway 48 on Tuesday. Two of the victims, who were injured seriously, have been shifted to Bangalore. The police gave the names of dead as Ragu (20), Shive Gowda (50), Kumar (25) of Kadambige village of K.R. Pet taluk and Manjesh (25) of Shantigrama village of Hassan taluk. According to the police, Raghu, Shive Gowda and Kumar were returning to Kadmbige village after attending a function at Jakkanalli village in Hassan taluk. The goods autorickshaw they were travelling by and the maxi-cab coming from Channarayapatna collided at 1.30 p.m. While all the four persons died on the spot, Hemanth and Papayya, who were injured, were shifted to Bangalore. Hassan rural police have registered a case. In another incident that occurred on Monday night, Ganesh (40) of Muddanahalli was killed when the goods autorickshaw he was travelling by toppled near Anniganahalli village in Hassan taluk. The Hassan rural police registered a case.
House gutted
A house was gutted when a cracker shop attached to the house caught fire on Tuesday. Fire tenders arrived at the spot and minimised the damage.
