BELLARY: The number of seats in the Bellary Zilla Panchayat and taluk panchayats in the district have increased by four and 23, respectively, after the delimitation of constituencies carried out by the State Election Commission. The Deputy Commissioner, S.N. Jayaram, told presspersons here on Tuesday that the number of seats in the zilla panchayat has increased to 36 from 32 while the seats in the taluk panchayats have increased to 135 from 112. According to a notification issued here, the new constituencies added to the zilla panchayat are Sangankal in Bellary taluk, Halekote in Sirguppa taluk, Deogiri in Sandur taluk and Sooladahalli in Kudligi taluk. While Halekote, Muddatanur and Araliganur constituencies have been added to the Sirguppa Taluk Panchayat, taking the total number of seats to 17, six constituencies H. Veerapur, Siddammanahalli, Y. Budihal, Sindwal, Genakihal and Kurgodu-II have been added to the Bellary Taluk Panchayat. Anthapur, Bhujanganagar and Yerriswamyhalli have been added to the Sandur Taluk Panchayat while Gadiganur, No. 10 Muddapur and Mariyammanahalli-II have been added to the Hospet Taluk Panchayat. Four constituencies Appenahalli, Hire Kumbalagunti, Kakkappi and Huralihal have been added to the Kudligi Taluk Panchayat; two constituencies Chintrampalli-II and Pinjar Hegdal to the Hagari Bommanahalli Taluk Panchayat; and Hirebannimatti and Nagati Basapur to the Hadagali Taluk Panchayat.
