PALAKKAD: Various organisations, under the banner of the Anti-Pepsi Cola Agitation Committee, took out a march to the Pepsi unit at Wise Park, Kanjikode, on Tuesday, demanding its closure for what they called "water piracy.''
Protest marches
Marches taken out from Pudussery and Chullimada converged at Sathrapadi near the Pepsi unit. The march was inaugurated by Mylamma, leader of anti-Coca-Cola struggle at Plachimada in Chittur taluk in the district. The general convenor of the agitation committee, K.P. Suresh Raj, presided over the meeting. The CPI assistant secretaries Panniyan Ravindran and K.E. Ismail; the Indian Union Muslim League leader K.T. Jaleel; the Bharatiya Janata Party district secretary, K. Sivarajan, and others participated. Activists of nearly 30 political parties and organisations took part in the march. The organisations include the Communist Party of India (CPI), Janata Dal, RSP (B), AITUC, Solidarity Youth Movement, Plachimada Solidarity Committee, Bharathapuzha Samrakshana Samithy and so on.
