KANNUR: The Akshaya Scheme aimed at providing Information Technology (IT) education to all sections of the public will be implemented in the district during the current academic year. According to a press release issued by the Public Relations and Information Department here on Tuesday, the scheme being implemented by the Kerala State IT Mission in association with local bodies would be introduced in all panchayats and municipalities of the district. The project aims to make IT accessible to society, equip at least one member in each family to use computer and provide information on various subjects and services through the Akshaya Centres. Details can regarding the area of operation will be available from the District Project Office, Dinesh Software Park. The IT Mission will soon invite applications from qualified persons to set up such centres, it said. Those having completed 15 years and Plus Two/pre-degree are eligible to apply. The project office will conduct a class on the scheme before inviting the applications. The date and time of the class will be announced later. The applications should be submitted online, the release said. A help desk will be set up at the project office to help the applicants.
