KOZHIKODE: The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) is planning a strong agitation against the water theme park that the CPI(M) has planned in Kannur. To protest against the project, Yuva Morcha, the youth wing of BJP, would be taking out a protest march on May 17, from Plachimada to Parassinikkadavu, the site of the proposed tourist attraction, K. Surendran, State president of the BJYM told mediapersons on Tuesday. He said a massive agitation was being organised since the water theme park, that would be set up at Parassinikkadavu, `would be a grave threat to the eco-system.'' The Yuva Morcha had information that huge quantities of groundwater would be drawn for running the project. The Yuva Morcha leader expressed the fear that drawing such large quantities of water would greatly increase the water scarcity that was already acute in the region. The BJP youth wing has also demanded a white paper on the smart city project in Kochi. To press this demand `black day' is being observed on May 10 throughout the State. The Yuva Morcha has also called for a convention against the express highway project at Kozhikode Town hall on June 3 since the Government appeared to be bent upon executing the project. The organisation's activists would also burn the Chief Minister in effigy on May 16 in all panchayats when the UDF would be celebrating the anniversary of its Government, it was announced at the press conference.
