MANGALORE: The Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat honoured Gertrude Veigas, Deputy Director, Department of Women and Child Welfare, for receiving the Citizens Award conferred by the Government, at its general meeting here on Tuesday. Members joined Subodh Yadav, Chief Executive Officer, in congratulating Ms. Veigas on her services being recognised. Mr. Yadav drew the attention of the House to the honour conferred on Ms. Veigas once the House convened to transact business for the day. While Somanath, panchayat President, presented a bouquet to Ms. Veigas, Shalet Pinto, panchayat Vice-President, presented her with a shawl. Dhanalakshmi Bangera, Chairperson, Standing Committee on Social Justice, presented Ms. Veigas with a basket of fruits.
