COIMBATORE: The Department of Posts has launched e-post facility through which any person in India, including rural areas, can send a message, information or greetings on an A4 sheet for Rs. 10. The facility can be utilised with or without computer or any internet connection. On Sunday, a special counter for accepting e-post was arranged by the Coimbatore Division at the St. Michaels Cathedral Church in Coimbatore to facilitate sending greetings to the new Pope.
Messages to Pope
According to Rev. Fr. J. Nelson, Parish Priest, about 200 e-post greetings were received and sent immediately. Similar arrangements were also made in Salem, says P.P. Arumugam, Senior Superintendent of Post Offices. Those who sent their greetings included a couple from Germany who sent the `e-post' greetings in German to the new Pope who hailed from Germany.
