One killed as lorry hits van

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: One person was killed and another injured when a lorry hit the van they were travelling at Pallippuram early on Tuesday. Vijay (27), a salesman with a paint company and a resident of MSK Nagar, Manacaud, died of injuries at Medical College Hospital.

Succumb to injuries

Two persons, who were injured in a hit-and-run accident at Statue Junction around 11 p.m. on Monday, died at Medical College Hospital here. They were identified as George Joseph, 65, a native of Kottayam and Ramachandran, 62, a native of Ernakulam.

The police have seized the vehicle involved in the incident.

Youth loses arm

A 34-year-old youth sitting near the window seat of a stationary private bus lost his arm when a KSRTC bus overtook it at Thottakkadu on the National Highway.

The private bus was coming from Attingal to Sreekariyam. The injured has been identified as Sabu, a native of Vamanapuram.

Auto driver held

The Peroorkada police have arrested an autorickshaw driver on the charge of snatching the necklace of a woman after assaulting her. The accused was identified as Christudas, 43. He was remanded in judicial custody.
