NEW DELHI: Aimed at reducing the production and distribution of alcohol across the country, the Indian Alcohol Policy Alliance (IAPA) will be formally launched at Delhi Secretariat here on Wednesday. The IAPA intends to develop and advocate an alcohol policy so as to create an environment in which people are aware about alcohol abuse and are prepared for preventive measures. A seminar on "Preventing Alcohol Abuse and Supporting Control Policies and Advocacy" in association with the Directorate of Prohibition, Department of Social Welfare will also be held on the occasion. "No other product so widely available for consumer use accounts for so much disability as alcohol. Alcohol reaches all parts of the world and no part remains immune from the problem associated with intoxication and dependence," said the Director of Institute of Alcohol Studies, UK, Derek Rutherford.
