NEW DELHI: To mobilise public opinion and build a people's movement to demand the "right to water", the BJP MLA from Saket in South Delhi, Vijay Jolly, on Tuesday organised a "Paani Adalat" at the Delhi Jal Board headquarters -- Varunalaya -- where two senior Delhi BJP leaders, Madan Lal Khurana and Sahib Singh Verma, listened to public grievances and asked the water utility to improve supply in the Capital. At the meeting, residents' welfare associations of Saket, Pushp Vihar, Sangam Vihar, Duggal Colony, Bank Colony, Durga Vihar, Krishna Park, Khanpur, Jawahar Park and Tigri Extension raised their problems relating to re-boring of tubewells, replacing old water pipelines and rainwater harvesting. They also demanded that Sangam Vihar and colonies situated on Devli Road be connected to the Sonia Vihar treatment plant. Accusing the Delhi Chief Minister and the DJB Chairperson, Sheila Dikshit, of failing to ensure proper water supply to the residents, Mr. Jolly alleged that the water utility had failed to solve the long pending problems of residents and demanded immediate action on the same.
