ASI arrested

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW: An Assistant Sub Inspector of Delhi police Dharampal Singh who had opened fire from his double barrel gun during a clash with his neighbours at Gamri village in Usmanpur area of North East Delhi on Monday night was arrested on Tuesday on the charge of attempt to murder. While eight persons had sustained pellet injuries in the firing, three others had sustained head injuries in the scuffle prior to it.

Auto-thefts solved

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW: With the arrest of a 23-year-old youth on Sunday, the North-West police claims to have solved four cases of auto-thefts and has recovered two stolen cars.

On May 1, a police party while conducting a check of vehicle at Neelamber picket near DDA Complex in Rani Bagh spotted a man driving a Maruti-800 in suspicious circumstances. On seeing the police, the man took a U-turn and tried to flee away. However, the police swung into action and forced him to stop his car. As the driver failed to produce the relevant documents and proof of ownership of the vehicle the police questioned him.

The driver was subsequently identified as Gulshan. During interrogation he allegedly confessed to his involvement in four cases of vehicle thefts at Saraswati Vihar and Keshav Puram. Lathicharge condemned

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW: The National Union of Journalists (India) has condemned the lathicharge on journalists by Uttar Pradesh police at Greater Noida last week where they had gone to protest against the Hindustan Times management on the call given by the five leading newspaper workers organisation. The NUJ (I) secretary general, M.D. Gangwar, has demanded action against guilty police officials.

Two killed

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW: Two persons were killed when their motorcycle collided against the side verge on Khoda Road in the Mayur Vihar area of East Delhi on Monday night. The deceased have been identified as 18-year-old Pramod and 22-year-old Pravir, both residents of Noida Sector 8. The two were taken to Lal Bahadur Hospital but were declared brought dead.

Murder case solved

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW: The North East Delhi police today claimed to have solved an attempt to murder case with the arrest of Mohinder Kumar, a resident of Kailash Nagar.

The police said Mohinder wanted to settle some business differences with Tara Chand and assaulted him in Bhajan Pura with the help of his associates, who have since been identified and for whom a hunt has been launched.

Held with smack

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW: Two persons allegedly carrying 200 gm of smack were arrested in Hari Nagar here by the West Delhi police on Monday.

The police said the duo, Rahees Ahmed and Azeem, were spotted by a patrolling party. However, on seeing the police, they started running away which made the police suspicious. The two were caught after a chase and 200 gm of smack was recovered from their possession.

Held with knives

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW: Two persons have been arrested under the Arms Act by the North East Delhi for illegal possession of knives. While Rakesh, a resident of MCD Staff Quarters was arrested at Tahirpur bus stop, Puran was apprehended at Wazirabad road.
