JAIPUR: A sum of Rs. 1,012 crores has been sanctioned for the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and the District Primary Education Project (DPEP) being implemented in Rajasthan during the current financial year, against Rs. 840 crores approved during the previous year. The State Education Minister, Ghanshyam Tiwari, said here on Wednesday that Rs. 854 crores would be spent on the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and Rs. 158 crores on DPEP. He said Rs. 77 crores had been provided for DPEP's first phase and Rs. 81 crores for the second phase. Mr. Tiwari pointed out that the Project Approval Board under the Centrally sponsored schemes had sanctioned Rs. 840 crores for the State last year, adding that Rajasthan was the only State for which the schemes were approved without delay this year. The Project Approval Board has also sanctioned the draft of the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and DPEP submitted by the State Government without making any changes. Mr. Tiwari said the State had successfully met all parameters of the two schemes by properly utilising the money sanctioned and carrying out regular monitoring of the progress of work.
