Stir threats will not help, says RTC Chairman
Staff Reporter
TIRUPATI:
The APSRTC chairman, Gone Prakasa Rao, reiterated the Government's resolve to develop the corporation, making it clear that it was not poised for privatisation.
Addressing a media conference here on Wednesday, Mr.Rao appealed to the workers' unions not to intimidate the management with strike threats every now and then and vitiate the conducive atmosphere. Making it clear that the Government would not ignore the working classes, he urged them to give their due for their organisation. Listing the steps initiated to bring the corporation back into the black, he said that the Government had agreed for book adjustments worth Rs.200 crores, cleared dues to the tune of Rs.167 crores and also provided an interest-free loan of Rs.103 crores towards meeting the staff salaries.
