BHOPAL: The Bhopal police on Wednesday nabbed an alleged con man masquerading as an astrologer and seized from his possession obscene literature, video CDs and a few wild animal skins, including a tiger skin. Acting on a tip-off, the police conducted preliminary investigations and swooped in on the house of Nitin Agrawal, a resident of South T.T. Nagar in the new Bhopal area. Some of his neighbours had complained to the police about some "dubious" persons visiting him at odd hours. The police was told that they were scared of him as he used to perform Tantric rituals. He was also running a Jyotish (astrology) Training Centre at Shastri Nagar here. When the police raided his house, Nitin was found watching a blue-film on his CD player. The police have also confiscated obscene literature, three swords, tiger, leopard and deer skins from his house. During interrogation, he told the police that the skins had been purchased from some tribal women about three years ago. The police have arrested Nitin and registered a case under Section 51 of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, section 292 of Indian Penal Code and section 25 of the Arms Act. The police are also investigating the possibility of his links with those involved in poaching and smuggling of rare and endangered wild animal skins and their body parts.
