BANGALORE: The public and the police on Tuesday night chased and caught two employees of a software company who allegedly robbed an elderly woman of a gold chain in Jeevanbimanagar police station limits. The police said that around 8.30 p.m., two men on a motorcycle waylaid Indrani (66) on 14th Main, 2nd Stage, HAL. They pushed her to the ground, snatched her gold chain worth Rs. 20,000 and sped away on the motorcycle, the police said. An alert public and beat policemen chased the two persons and caught them. The police recovered from them the gold chain and seized their motorcycle, which had a fake registration number. Their names were given as Sawan Sishupal Kshatriya (23) and Bhunath Singh (23), both from Rajasthan. Kshatriya is a resident of Kaggadasapura and Singh is the son of an Indian Air Force employee and stays in the IAF camp on Airport Road, the police said. Kshatriya and Singh have been living in Bangalore for three years and are employed in a software firm in Domlur, the police said.
Pirated VCDs seized
Officials of the Central Crime Branch on Tuesday raided a shop in the National Games village in Adugodi police station limits and seized pirated VCDs worth Rs. 1.10 lakh. The police arrested the proprietor of the shop, Raghu (20) of J.P. Nagar. The seized VCDs are of Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and English movies, the police said.
Vehicles recovered
The Yelahanka New Town police on Tuesday arrested two persons from Kerala on charges of vehicle theft and recovered from them six motorcycles worth Rs. 2 lakhs. The names of the arrested were given as Anil (28) of Palakkad district and P. Ravi (30) of Kozhikode district.
