Letters to the Editor
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy has said that naxalism is more a moral and political issue than a socio-economic problem (May 4). However, this cannot be a new theory attributed to him. Politicians have all along been unwilling to accept the truth. A lot of people believe that corruption and criminalisation of politics are the root causes of all the country's ills and that our present set of politicians do more harm than naxals. Mr. Reddy will do well to take steps to root out corruption and criminalisation of politics. The naxals will then have no reasons to take to arms.
