Credit plan for Lakshadweep

KOCHI:
The annual credit plan for the Union Territory of Lakshadweep for the year 2005-06 has been approved.
The total credit outlay is Rs.6.10 crores, which is 31 per cent more than that of the previous year, according to Kuruvilla George, regional manager, Syndicate Bank, who is the convener for the District Consultative Committee for Banking Development, Union Territory of Lakshadweep..
Out of the total credit outlay of Rs.6.10 crores, the allocation for priority sector credit comes to Rs.3.37 crores, which is 32 per cent more than that of previous year. Under agriculture, the credit allocation has been increased by 43 per cent over the previous year.
The credit allocation for small-scale industries and other priority sector is Rs.0.21 crore and Rs.1.40 crores respectively. The plan will be implemented through branches located in the islands.
