A chance to exhibit driving skills

Special Correspondent

BANGALORE: Motorbike racers will have an opportunity to exhibit their skills at the second round of the Gulf Dirt Track National Championship to be held at the Palace grounds here on May 21 and 22. Top riders such as Syed Eathasham of Team Yamaha and C. Vijay Kumar of Team TVS will renew their rivalry in the Experts class. After the first round at Pune, Eathasham has an eight-point lead over Vijay.

Presently the Dirt Track championship is a fierce rivalry between bike manufacturers TVS and Yamaha especially in the experts' class. However Bangalore has always been a hub for novices. The championship, being organised by Sportscraft, is being billed as a contest for `anyone with a two-wheeler and a valid licence.' A special event for ladies steering scooters will also be part of the championship.

Entries close on May 13 at 5 p.m. However, late entries will be accepted up to 1 p.m. on May 18. For entry forms, contact Karnataka Motor Sports Club, c/o Zen Motors, 127/10 Bull Temple Road, Bangalore. Ph: 26678229 or Pacer Motors, 21 Infantry Road, Bangalore. (Ph: 22863415/16).
