Model code of conduct forgotten?

Special Correspondent

SHIMOGA: The model code of conduct, which came into force when the byelection to the Lok Sabha from Shimoga and the byelection to the Assembly from Chamarajpet were announced, seemed to have gone unnoticed by some of the speakers at the Chaitanya Samavesha here on Thursday.

Addressing the gathering, the Minister for Industries, P.G.R. Sindhia, referred to the efforts made by him as the Minister concerned for the revival of Mysore Paper Mills (MPM) of Bhadravati. He claimed that the MPM would have been closed down by now if he had not acted in time. He allayed the fears that it would be privatised.

The Minister for Medical Education, Iqbal Ansari, said that the government medical college to be established in Shimoga was because of the sustained efforts of the coalition Government.
