KARIMNAGAR: Several foundation stones laid by the Chief Minister, Y.S Rajashekhar Reddy, during his `Rajiv Nagara baata' in Metpally town on April 17 in the district have been broken into pieces and strewn into the nearby garbage dumps. Foundation stones for the SRSP Flood flow canal and the Rallavagu projects have been removed and stored in the office of the SRSP in Metpally town, while the other foundation stones such as construction of municipal office building, BC boys hostel building in Ibrahimpatnam, milk bulk cooling unit, Shadi khana, Mallanna temple, improvement to several roads in Metpally, BSNL tower, gram panchayat building for Thakkalapalli village in Kathalapur mandal, MRO office of Mallapur, etc have been either dislocated or broken into pieces.
Stones damaged
The foundations stones, which were in order, have come in handy for the local cricket-lovers to use them as wickets in the mini-stadium grounds. While playing cricket, several foundation stones have been damaged. Overenthusiastic Government officials removed the broken pieces of the foundation stones and dumped them in the nearest garbage dump, while some foundation stones have been levelled to the ground. The BJP district president, P Sugunakar Rao, said that the foundation stones should be laid at the respective villages instead of one particular location. He also found fault with the Chief Minister for laying foundation stone for the gram panchayat building and other small works neglecting the local body representatives.
