SZ Police in last eight

TUTICORIN: South Zone Police, Madurai entered the men's quarterfinals of the State-level basketball tournament conducted jointly by Tuticorin District Basketball Association and TBA Club defeating Nellai Youths Basketball Club, Tirunelveli 51-22 here on Thursday.

The results:

Men (prequarter-finals):

South Zone Police 51 (Packiaraj 12, Selvaraj 10, Rajkumar 10) bt Nellai Youths B.C 22 (Vijaya Benhar 11).

First Round: B.S.N.L. Chennai bt Classic B.C. Tuticorin 68-49; Nellai Youths B.C. bt Caldwell B.C. Tuticorin 53-52; Southern Railway Coop. Society B.C, Chennai bt T.B.A. Club, Tuticorin 73-52.

Women: Armed Polcie, Chennai 60 (Sumithra 30) bt Holy Angles B.C, Salem 52 (Hemalatha 20, Kanya 10).
