ONGOLE: Was it Mahesh (15), a 10th class student, who was killed in the claymore mine blast triggered by Maoists targeting the Superintendent of Police, Mahesh Chanda Laddha, here on April 27? The police believe that there was enough evidence to believe so. An oil miller in Konakanamitla mandal, Subbaramayya, lodged a complaint with the One Town police stating that his son, Mahesh, was missing since April 27. The details he furnished made the police suspect that Mahesh could be the victim whose body was torn to pieces under the impact of the blast making it difficult to identify him. The Deputy Superintendent of Police, Ch. Chakrapani, told The Hindu that a case of missing boy was registered and blood samples of both the parents were sent to Hyderabad for DNA tests to ascertain the identity of the victim. It was stated that Mahesh had appeared for the SSC examination in March. He did not go back to his village for vacation, as he wanted to improve his English language and learn some basics in computers. He stayed back along with five of his friends in a rented room near the Court centre. Mahesh joined a course in Brilliant Computers. On the day of the blast, he attended the class and left the institute at 2 p.m. The blast occurred at 2.20 p.m. near the Sankar Mutt, which is mid-way.
