HUBLI: Of the 117 candidates, who had filed nomination papers for the elections to the agricultural produce market committee (APMC), 76 withdrew their papers on Thursday, V.R. Yaradakeri, Tahsildar, Hubli taluk, said in a press release on Thursday. Forty candidates are in the fray for 12 posts and they have been given election symbols. Thursday was the last day for withdrawal of nominations. The elections will be held on May 30, he said. Meanwhile, Giridharlal Vaghmal Bafna was declared elected unopposed from the merchants' constituency. Of the three candidates who were in the fray, two withdrew their nominations. The number of candidates in various APMC constituencies is as follows Amargol, Hebasur and Byahatti - 6 each, Koliwad, Noolvi and Belagali - 2 each, Chabbi - 5, Mantur - 3, Old Hubli - 4, Unakal - 3, Kusugal - 3 and cooperative society constituency - 2.
